PDAs for PAs
My first pda was a Visor by Handspring. What a tank and a work horse to boot. I have had it over 5 years I am sure and it is still in service with a premedical intern who works at our clinic. He will be in East Carolina Medical School soon. My secon and third have been palm T2 and T3.
Both the T2 and 3 are color and have a few more bells and whistles. The Palm OS operating system is more sophistocated. I like Palm and can recommend their product without reservation. Like all technology, it seems outdated as soon as you buy it. I wanted my palm pda to do just a few things.
I needed it to track all my contacts. I have hundreds of people on my list, PAs, MDs, Massage Therapists, Personal Trainers, RNs, Phychologists etc… I needed a data base compatable with windows. Palm filled that bill. Then I needed an electronic calendar at home and at work. Palm satisfied that requirement. I like chess, it needed to be able to load and play a game. It had to help me medically. I use Epocrates and it needed enough memory and speed to use the entire program, ditto again. I need an sd card slot, the ability to view pictures and to add or save programs on a card. I like to read books and it was capable of doing so with a couple of different readers. Now I wish it was internet capable and could hook to wireless networks and that it could hold mp3 files so I could listen to books that way.
