MSNBC gets the “skinny” on spices
By
MSNBC reported on a story from Self magazine about spices in your diet for different purposes. Spices mentioned in the article were dried red pepper, curcumin, and capsaicin. They noted that studies published in the British Journal of Nutrition or those done at U of SC and UCLA backed up their report.
These spices help with weight loss, recovery from hard workouts and protect the brain against stress. Other studies found that the concentrated antioxidants in spices also help with blood pressure, cholesterol control, and fight cancer. The moral of this story is to get as many spices and natural flavorings made from the dried roots, seeds, and leaves of as wide a variety of plants as possible.
