Health Insurance - how is it going to work
I have decided to keep up a feature on health insurance and coverage for our citizens during the election campaign. I am not particularly well read on this but have opinions on how it should work. If you know of good links to sites that discuss a candidates views or written policy on universal coverage please leave me a comment so I can review it and link it here. For now there are two sites with interesting posts I want you to read.
First there is the Gooznews. The most recent posts are about balancing the budget while spending on insurance for children. The acronyms you need to be aware of are PAYGO for pay as you go. Congress is to cut spending to make room for new programs and SCHIP or State’s Children Health Insurance Plans. It seems congress did not follow PAYGO rules they reinstated to fund SCHIP. Read about it in the GoozNews.
The second is an article on the Healthcare Economist blog. A piece from the WSJ about the Dutch health-care system is discussed. The Dutch just implemented a new system of mandatory insurance. Read about how it used to be and how it is now. What do you think of the plan and about Jason Shafrin’s views (he is the Healthcare Economist blog author). Let me know what you think and what you would like to see or about other sites that I can link to for information on this issue.
