Active Living Every Day
According to the CDC , heart disease, cancer and stroke are the top 3 causes of death in the United States. Diabetes and Alzheimer’s rank 6 and 7 respectively. Death from diabetes is usually from cardiovascular complications (Heart Attack/Failure and/or Stroke).
In an article from the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published in 2004, the authors looked at the actual causes of death in the USA. Tobacco use ranked number one and number two was poor diet and lack of exercise. The authors estimated that 35% of all deaths each year are attributable to those two causes. Those would be premature deaths that could probably have been delayed and better health enjoyed longer if those people had not smoked and had eaten better and done some regular exercises (walking!).
