Books I recommend for Weight Loss Success
Weight loss is big business in the USA, and in many other countries. There is no end to the information that is produced in the name of getting thinner. It is not getting thinner that is important, it is permanent long term weight loss that counts. Maybe even more important is getting more fit. This benefits the brain, less risk of dementia, the heart, less risk of coronary artery disease and our mental health as exercise contributes to decreased stress and better rest.
I have written about these aspects or fitness here before so I won’t review them anymore in this article. I have also made the point it is better to be fit than thin from a health perspective.
If your goal is to become healthier and fitter then I recommend 5 books to assist you on this journey. They are books I own and find quite useful. I will be using them in my teleseminars on losing excess fat. You can register for these quite soon. I will announce it here in an article that will go to all my subscribed readers automatically. Be sure to sign up quickly as I am only allowing a few, probably less than 25 people, to participate in this first inaugural f*r*e*e online and phone seminar.
Here are the books I recommend, leave a comment about what has helped or inspired you the most. (I know the author of the 4th one and I do get a rebate of $1-2 per book if you click through and buy them):

I have been reading books by Bill Phillips and Covert Bailey. Are you familiar with these authors? If so, do you teach any of their principles or philosophies?
Comment by Bruce Bair on 12 June 2008:
I am very familiar with both. Phillips started Body for Life. It was a decent program, had a few flaws and was skewed to the beautiful people. he has sold his interest in that business now and it is totally commercial.
Covert Bailey was on the cutting edge of weight loss theory in the 80’s. His personality made the set-point-theory a household word. I liked his stuff on Fit or Fat. Then he loaned his name and credibility to some really dubious products. I left him then and weight loss theory has moved on past him as far as I can tell.
Today we know it is about diet, exercise and how you think. Cognitive therapy has proved to be as effective as any weight loss method.
You only control two things - your attitude and your actions. A coach can help you to get the right attitude and apply it to the right actions at the right time and in the proper intensity and frequency to get good satisfying and long lasting results. Thus, the best people in “weight loss” are not well known except to the people in their area whom they are trying to help.
