Weight Loss - The Final Three Stages of Change
I have written on Ezine Articles about the first three stages of change. You can find that on the link in the middle column of this blog. If it is not there when you look, wait a few days it takes the article directory a few days to post them. The first three stages of change are precontemplation, contemplation and preparation. Basically, a person making changes moves through these stages as they realize the benefit of the change and plan to make it.
The fourth stage is Action. It is here that you implement the the plans you made during your time of preparation. If your plan is to lose weight - excess body fat - then your plan will include a form of caloric reduction, exercise, mental training and social support. You should have a reasonable expectation of how fast this will go and be prepared to put some energy into the system.
Action is followed by maintenance phase. You have been taking action more than 6 months, made steady progress and are continuing to maintain your momentum. This stage lasts until you reach your goal and the habits of the new life style are so ingrained you will not return to your previous behaviors.
I invite you to learn more about this process by joining me on Thursday nights at 830PM for a teleseminar called a Recipe to Look Better Naked. Register to receive notification of the page to log onto by filling out the form in the far right column for this event. You will automatically receive my blog updates if you do this so there is no need to sign up for it also. I suggest you invite a friend to “attend” with you so you can begin together and support each other.
I look forward to discussing how to successfully make this change in behavior with each of you soon. If you want to study this topic in greater depth I encourage you to purchase a copy of Dr. James Prochaska’s book Changing for Good
