Are you trying to Lose Weight
I tell all my patients to check their BMI.
(You can check yours on my blog page labeled BMI - just look at pages, not posts) If it is over 25 they need to lose excess fat. If it is over 30 it is imperative they lose fat. We have become accustomed to seeing other Americans in the over-weight state that it becomes the norm. When we see someone with a normal BMI we think they are “thin”. They can be skinney fat- that is they can still have too great a percentage of fat compared to muscle becasue they have so little muscle. That is an easy problem to correct. If you get to pick a weight problem, pick that one.
I teach an online class on weight loss every Thursday night at 830 eastern time. You can sign up to get the mp3 recordings if you can’t be there live. This is the last series I will teach for free this year. I will actually be selling these recordingsstarting in mid-December. The workbook pages and recordings will cost around $30 and will come with a couple of perks. The benefit of listening live is that you can ask me a question. If you can’t be there, go to the pre-broadcast page and type in your question in advance and I will answer it during the lesson and you can hear the answer when you download the mp3.
Here is the link for the first lesson. Lesson 2 was last Thursday and lesson 3 is on Nov 6. Lesson 4, Nov. 20, Lesson 5 Dec. 4, and Lesson 6 Dec. 11.
I also post a tip on Twitter most days. I am DurhamDad on twitter if you want to follow me there.

I joined the session last week and listened to week one. I feel that it has motivated me and provided the tools I need to be successful in reaching my weight loss goals. I have a BMI of 35, so sad.

Remember that BMI is not who you are, it is a predictor of future health. The good thing is it is possible to change your BMI and your future health. I am glad you have begun that process.
Don’t look to the end if it seems hard and far away. Look only to the next 4 hours and ask yourself, what can I do now. Try to schedule your meals and snacks each day. Experiment to find what is working in your recipe. The principles are the same for everyone, but the recipe is yours. It is your creation. You can come up with the long term solution that will improve not only your appearance but your long term health outlook.
