What is a Healthy Breakfast?
By
Healthy foods enhance your bodies response by stimulating your restorative processes. What?! OK, good food keeps you full, has plenty of the stuff your body needs and keeps you from being hungry for several hours. What does that?
Since there is no such thing as a carbohydrate deficiency disease, you do not have to eat carbs. You don’t have to eat “breakfast” foods either. You need some fat and some protein an maybe some complex carbs from berries or some vegetables. The list includes nuts, berries, meats (unprocessed), eggs, I like and eat some dairy products like Swiss cheese, cottage cheese and Kefir. The Idea is to eat about 1/4 to 1/3 of your calories needed for the day and to get some essential fats and enough protein but no sugars or simple carbohydrates to over stimulate insulin.
I like 4 oz Swiss cheese, 1 oz of raw almonds, some green tea and maybe a few berries. I will eat left-overs – tomorrow I am having a few black beans and some beef, probably on a bed of romaine lettuce – a cup or two of lettuce and 5 ounces of the beef mixture. I drink a no calorie beverage for each meal. An omelet with 3-4 eggs and some of last nights left-over vegges is great too.
There are a lot of choices, but those that require the least preparation also cost the most in terms of our future health.
